This custom-made keychain was commissioned from *Daichi*, a long-established company founded in 1909 in Ono City—the birthplace of the “Banshu Abacus,” which has been designated as a traditional Japanese craft.
Just like a genuine abacus, it features an ebony frame; the top five beads are fixed to the frame, while the bottom four are linked together as a single unit, ensuring that only the numbers “5” or “9” (symbolizing “passing an exam”) can be displayed.
For the custom beads, we selected “orange” and “indigo,” the key colors of BEAMS JAPAN.
