Tetsu Nishiyama stared his own brand, “40% AGAINST RIGHTS” in Harajuku in 1993. He originally started working with SKATE-THING and produced t-shirts and various related accessories, mostly completed with silk screening. Those items are initially on consignment at the NOWHERE from NIGO and NEIGHBORHOOD shop from Shinsuke Takizawa. In 1997, Tetsu established WTAPS to replace 40% AGAINST RIGHTS. The brand name, WTAPS, is derived from a gun shooting jargon, “double tap”, which means two well-aimed shots hitting the same target with very little time in between, suggesting a sense of absolute preciseness.
