Duck canvas originated around the 18th century from a simple, human desire to “create something sturdy and durable” for sailors. Characterized by its thick, heavy-duty plain weave, this fabric also came to be widely known as a material for workwear in harsh working environments.
In today’s world, where items are expected to be efficient, durable, and yet lightweight, we have reimagined duck canvas within a modern context and developed a PORTER original fabric woven from a proprietary blend of cotton and recycled nylon yarn. Woven to the highest possible density, it retains the characteristic toughness of duck canvas while remaining light enough to catch the breeze, designed to blend seamlessly into modern daily life.
