“OLDNEW” series uses one of the oldest natural dyes, persimmon tannin.
Kakishibu (persimmon tannin), with its high waterproofing and antiseptic properties, has been used since ancient times not only for everyday essentials, clothing and buildings, but also as a healing remedy. In the Edo period (1603-1868), it became the fashionable colour of the time when Danjuro Ichikawa wore traditional ceremonial clothes dyed in persimmon tannin.
