This is the “B-KAWZ Gold Edition” designer figurine, produced and released by the Toy Foundation (NTF) in 2010.
It is a parody piece that boldly fuses (mashups) the distinctive style of the world-famous artist “KAWS” (featuring the signature ✖✖ eyes) with the classic American cartoon character “Popeye.”
This Gold Edition is an extremely rare model, released in a limited run of only 250 pieces worldwide. The packaging features the phrase “APPROPRIATING THE APPROPRIATOR,” a message imbued with irony and humor regarding the culture of artistic appropriation and imitation.
