Woven from ‘yotsumoku-ito’—a yarn consisting of four twisted threads of different colours—this fabric possesses a depth of colour that cannot be achieved with a single-colour yarn. ‘Moku’ refers to the unique and beautiful patterns found in the grain of wood, which have been prized since ancient times.
By twisting together dyed yarn—which has been soaked in water and dried—with raw silk, and weaving it at high density, this canvas fabric possesses a firm, taut texture and the smooth feel characteristic of twisted yarn; it develops a supple texture the more it is used.
