Material : Japan Paper
These Daruma dolls are crafted by Shirakawa Daruma Sohonpo, a long-established shop in Shirakawa City, Fukushima Prefecture, with a history spanning approximately 300 years and a reputation as one of Japan’s leading Daruma manufacturers.
Daruma dolls have long been cherished by the Japanese as symbols of good luck. Shirakawa Daruma features “eyebrows representing a crane,” “a beard representing a turtle,” “sideburns representing pine and plum,” and “a chin beard representing bamboo.” It is popular as the auspicious “Crane, Turtle, Pine, Bamboo, and Plum Daruma,” believed to bring good fortune. When making a wish, first paint the left eye of the Daruma; once your wish is granted, paint the right eye.
