SWITCH magazine has been following
Comme des Garçons' history, which has been followed by "SWITCH" magazine,
This is a special edition of the complete preservation edition.
Special Edition - Finished cross-laying
In the world of COMME des GARÇONS designed by Rei Kawakubo, we can always see the beautiful chaos at the beginning of something new, full of innovation. We are witnesses to the creation of what comes next. Through Rei Kawakubo's point of view, we can see the bliss of creative and business, the superposition of these two elements as the pulley that drives time. This special feature is here. Because the world of Rei Kawakubo is an art that points to the future.
Includes "Comme des Garçons cover feature
The first Comme des Garçons cover story in SWITCH in 2015, which featured an exclusive 15,000-character long interview with designer Rei Kawakubo, who has never been interviewed by the domestic media, as well as features on the DOVER STREET MARKET in London, Ginza, and New York. The collection includes a total of five "SWITCH" cover features, including a special feature on Rei Kawakubo, the first living designer since Yves Saint Laurent to hold a special exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and a feature with an exclusive interview with Bjork, who visited the exhibition. In addition, eight full-page issues of the visual magazine "Six" published between 1988 and 1991, a reprint of the Comme des Garçons Furniture catalog from 1990, and new photographs of Comme des Garçons "DM" from 2008 to 2023 will be included. The exhibition will also include new photographs of Comme des Garçons "DM" produced from 2008 to 2023.
The latest document of Rei Kawakubo and Comme des Garçons 23-24AW collection will be featured.
In addition to the latest document of Rei Kawakubo at the Paris Fashion Week in March this year, the 23-24AW collection of COMME des GARÇONSON, photographed by Kazumi Kurigami, is also included. In addition, the magazine reprints a fashion story shot by photographer Seino Gako in 1996, and includes all the Comme des Garcons collections and fashion stories that SWITCH has documented to date. In addition, interviews with stylist Michiko Kitamura and Ichiro Yamaguchi of Sakanaction discussing the appeal of Comme des Garcons (the interview with Michiko Kitamura is a new interview). Portraits of Rie Miyazawa, Yurina Hirate, Somegoro Ichikawa, and other people who have worn Comme des Garcons in "SWITCH" magazine are also included.
What is Comme des Garçons? Please look forward to this 416-page special issue, which is not a retrospective of the 50 years since its establishment, but rather a full-length special edition of Comme des Garçons' fashion and business for the future 50 years, and Rei Kawakubo's philosophy and aesthetic sensibility.
