The seat is based on the “Super Cub” seat, which was designed with commercial use in mind. Honda developed it after careful consideration of every detail, focusing on a design philosophy that prioritizes comfort for long rides and enhanced durability.
It features a form tailored to the characteristics of Japanese riders—such as a design that makes it easy for even shorter riders to swing their legs over from the front and grip the seat between their legs—and incorporates meticulous attention to the durability of both the upholstery and cushioning materials.
“The biggest challenge was designing a structure that would allow the motorcycle seat to function as a stool,” says Katsuaki Kanno of “Factory Den,” a car-loving woodworker who handled every step of the stool’s creation—from design to manufacturing.
To meet the difficult challenge of ensuring the stool’s structural integrity while achieving a form reminiscent of a Super Cub and ensuring it blends naturally into any living space, he repeatedly prototyped and adjusted the legs using mockups.
