This is a strip-shaped floral print, an updated re-edition of Takashi Murakami’s print work ‘Ohanacchi’, created using the modern techniques of the Kaikai Kiki Print Studio.

It is a truly splendid piece, with flowers blooming profusely across the entire surface.
But that is not its only appeal.

Murakami’s ‘Flowers’ takes as its theme ‘Snow, Moon and Flowers’, a subject commonly found in traditional Japanese painting.
This work incorporates the ‘all-over’ technique—a method that encompasses and covers the entire canvas—from American Abstract Expressionism.
Rather than simply filling the canvas with flowers, the composition is designed to guide the viewer’s gaze through the arrangement of colours and variations in tone, making it a work that offers the pleasure of being appreciated as a painting.
