KUON Sashiko Crest Snow Parka

The sleeves feature a sashiko stitch pattern in an ‘ice pattern’ design. The ice pattern is a traditional Japanese motif that stylises the irregular lines seen when ice cracks. Also known as the ‘cracked ice’ pattern, it symbolises the arrival of spring, when the weather warms and the ice begins to break.
The body of the jacket features a patch design, created using sashiko stitching on leftover original fabric from previous KUON collections.
Drawing inspiration from the context and customisation of the snow parka (Mods coat), this is a luxurious garment that brings together KUON’s craftsmanship, technical expertise and aesthetic sensibility.
Drawstrings are incorporated at the hood opening, waist and hem to prevent draughts whilst allowing you to adjust the silhouette.
The cuffs feature elasticated trims, creating a distinctive, rounded sleeve silhouette.
Pre-washed (hand wash + tumble dry)
For the warp threads, we use a black sulphide dye with a hint of blue to prevent them from turning a reddish black when they fade, and we take great care to achieve a deeper black by dyeing them four times using the rope-dyeing method. For the weft threads, we employ skein dyeing to ensure they are dyed right through to the core, so that they fade in unison with the warp threads without discolouring.
