Unlike typical designs, sewing specifications, and patterns, our denim jacket features a sharp, pointed collar with a clean, shirt-like finish, creating an elegant presence. It also incorporates intricate original details like the generously sized pocket on the lining and the selvedge gusset at the cuffs.
12.4oz OLD JOE original denim: Meticulously crafted from the yarn up, expressing our signature bulkiness and incorporating a rustic neppy texture, produced in the denim-producing region of Ihara. The warp threads feature strong irregularities and neps, dyed with a deep black indigo dye. The weft threads are carefully selected from relatively beige-toned cotton and spun with a strong twist. The fabric undergoes only a special sanforization (shrink-resistant treatment) from its raw, unfinished state, known as “kibata.” This differs from standard shrink-proofing methods, avoiding the stiff, paste-coated surface typical of rigid denim. Instead, it achieves a soft handfeel. The texture, the richness of the color, the actual feel in your hands, the ease of wear, and the yarn selection all combine to create OLDJOE's original denim—primitive yet modern, with a distinctive presence.
